The earliest influences came from their dad, being a radio DJ at alterternative music station KINK FM, over the years their taste got more and more broad; Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop Jazz, Plunderphonics and all forms of experimental electronic music and later comtemporary art music such as spectralism and electroacoustic. First having idols such as J Dilla, Arthur Russel, Erykah Badu, some of their current favourites are Björk, Aphex Twin, Tristan Murail and Annea Lockwood.
Victor started out as a classical pianist and gradually ventured into the realms of cello, guitar, and electronic music production. This eclectic mix forms the backbone of Barmus, which originates in Neo Soul-inspired productions for Zoë Love Smith and evolved into a more experimental electronic sound: A warm, nostalgic, yet totally contemporary musical style that resonates deeply.
Barmus' first solo album, "Lost/Found," dropped in 2020, and since then, they've been featured on Winterdagen's "In Phase Remix" album. While their release history might be short, Victor has a juicy stash of sketches and unreleased tracks that fuel their live performances.
